No 46 Wine Bar Presteigne

Set in the rolling hills of the welsh borders, the historic market town of Presteigne was once the principal town of Radnorshire. Voted as one of the top ten places to live, this lively community sports an array of attractions from the historic Judges Lodgings, to the raw and natural beauty of this special place. Top of the attractions to visit is No 46 Wine Bar located in the heart of the town on the high street.

No.46 Wine Bar has been open under its current owners (us!), Sarah & Charlie Minskip for the last 2 years.  The bar has grown from strength to strength, offering a large selection of quality wines for consumption both on and off site.  It has been our absolute pleasure to recently bring into our business The Friday Beer Company.

As a unique business, we have focused on providing our guests with a large selection of high quality drinks -the Friday Beer that we have introduced has gone down a treat with both our local and visiting ale drinkers.

Community is central to our ethos at No 46. In addition to our quality range of beers and wines we host a rotating art exhibition celebrating the vast array of talented artists and jewellers from the Welsh Borders to display and sell their work.  For entertainment, we regularly have guest musicians to perform live, the ever popular Red Parrot Poetry reading evenings and a host of special events ranging from clairvoyant nights to live exotic animal shows during the school holidays. Food is a big thing in Presteigne and No 46 has been proud to work with the local retailers and suppliers -  principally among  these is the award winning ‘Deli Tinto’, just across the road from the bar. All our guests are welcome to bring in their own supplies to snack on over a glass of something special!

Sarah was born and raised here in Presteigne and owned her own beauty business before she went for a ‘life on the ocean waves’! It was on a ship in the Caribbean that she met her husband, Charlie. Originally from New Zealand,  Charlie’s a man who never fails to bring a bit of antipodean hospitality to the proceedings (just be prepared for a ‘charlie hug’- its very special and unique! xsarah)  The experience that was shared by both of us through the cruise industry has given us a great insight into making our guests feel very welcome.

The eclectic yet warm and candlelit charm of the bar itself has meant that people view No.46 as a home away from home – come and visit!
