Launching Summer Hill Blonde

The Friday Beer Co is pleased to announce the launch of our new bottled ale named Summer Hill Blonde at this Bank Holiday weekend’s events at The Fold in Bransford and The Great Malvern Food and Drink Festival. The concept for this new light and refreshing seasonal ale was developed in early 2013 and was for many months code-named “Boris”.

After several iterations with small experimental brews we produced ale that contains four malts and was flavoured with a range of hops that combined to give a light refreshing but amazing tasty drink. Hints of citrus and the sweetness of the wheat malt have produced an exceptionally refreshing experience.

The ale can be drunk slightly chilled and together with its appearance and taste it is an ideal summer drink. So came the difficult part of finding a name for our new ale and deciding on a colour scheme for the label.

In keeping with most of our other ales we looked for inspiration for a name from the Malvern Hills. Summer Hill, with its carpet of bluebells and at a maximum elevation of 1253ft is tucked onto the side of the Worcestershire Beacon and seemed the obvious choice. We feel its name truly reflects the feeling of this refreshing drink. The label colour of “strawberry red” was chosen from a number of options and also matched perfectly the philosophy of a drink we hope you will all enjoy this summer.
